A gorgeous golden yellow color, this blend of Pinot Bianco, Friulano, and Ribolla Gialla grape varieties develops a beautiful sweetness over time. It’s well-structured, with a lively acidity.
Aromas of apple and pear greet you, with soft notes of floral, peach, and citrus. On the palate, it gives tropical fruit, pear, apple, and peach. It’s a very fresh and refreshing white wine, with mineral notes and balanced flavor.
The Molamatta is very versatile. Pair it with cheeses like pecorino, provolone, halloumi, and manchego. Prosciutto, jamon iberico, and mortadella are some cured meats to add to your charcuterie that would work very well with it.
For mains, enjoy a glass with pasta, or a lean fish dish (think sole, cod, or halibut). It’s also great with shellfish, like a dish of steamed mussels with creamy garlic sauce.
Collio became home to the Felluga family (whose wine industry lineage dates back to the 1800s) after they lost their property in Istria following World War II. Marco Felluga graduated from a renowned enology school in Conegliano, and opened his own winery in 1956, following his brother who opened his own in Rosazzo.
In 1967, Marco purchased the estate Russiz Superiore, was about five miles from Gradisca d’Isonzo, where his eponymous winery is located. This added 125 acres of cru-level vineyards to the Felluga business. He decided to operate it as a separate entity, but still owned by the family.
Both Marco Felluga winery and Russiz Superiore are the top wine producers in Collio, an Italian hotbed of white wine production.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
