Made with a blend of three varieties, the Oro del Desierto Coupage Olive Oil is smooth, with aromas of freshly cut grass, and a peppery finish on the palate.

TASTING NOTES FROM THE CURATOR

The Coupage Olive Oil by Oro del Desierto is made with blend of Arbequina, Hojiblanca, and Picual, expertly selected and made by a master taster and blender. These oils are held in 2000L tanks, where they are evaluated, before being chosen in various quantities and mixed to make a superior olive oil with a limited production. This is Oro del Desierto’s most awarded oil.

The Oro del Desierto Coupage Olive Oil has a leafy green color, with golden tints. On the nose, it has notes of freshly cut grass, green olives, and tomato, with hints of citrus and dried fruit. On the palate, it is smooth, with a lightly bitter, peppery finish. Its aftertaste is pleasant, with notes of olive, and hints of spice.

PREPARATION AND PAIRINGS

Use the Oro del Desierto Coupage Olive Oil raw on toasted bread. Or pour a little on a shallow dish, along with a few dashes of balsamic vinegar for a classic bread dip. Use it to garnish salads, goat cheese, spaghetti, marinades, cold soups like Spanish gazpacho, and other cold dishes.

THE SUNNY SIDE

The Alonso family established Oro del Desierto in 2000 as a family enterprise. Since 2003, it has garnered various national and international honors and recognitions for its quality and manufacturing method. Extra virgin olive oil from Oro del Desierto has been exported to over 20 countries and is still growing.

Oro del Desierto extra virgin olive oil is produced in Tabernas, in the province of Almeria. The qualities of the land in this area are ideal for producing extra virgin olive oil, as they receive roughly 3,000 hours of sunlight each year and have consistent temperatures for the majority of the year. Its organically farmed olives provide one of the top organic extra virgin olive oils in the world.

Storage Instructions

Olive oil should be stored in a cool, dry, dark cupboard, away from the heat and light. Choose a spot in the kitchen that’s away from the oven. The best temperature for storing oil is from 13 to 21°C.
