Tasting Notes from the Curator
The grapefruit is a subtropical citrus tree known for its relatively sour and somewhat bitter fruit. Grapefruit is 92 percent water and a great source of vitamin C and vitamin A. Ruby Red Grapefruits are used in this Fentimans Pink Grapefruit Tonic Water to add a bitter sweet depth of flavour.
Kaffir lime leaves, juniper, lemongrass, orris root, grapefruit oil are all part of the botanical brewing process on this occasion, and once done are joined by quinine, as well as natural orange and pink grapefruit flavorings. The vibrant color seen in bottle is made by adding carrot and hibiscus concentrates, allowing the already pinkish hue to pop resplendently in an all-natural way on the shelf.
The Fentimans Pink Grapefruit Tonic Water provides a versatility to your mixed drinks. Give it a go with G&G: gin and grapefruit tonic garnished with a grapefruit slice or even strawberries. Need something to serve for summer? Add a splash to your favorite Sauvignon Blanc and garnish with pink grapefruit and rosemary. Alternatively, you can add to Rose instead and garnish with strawberries and cucumber for that refreshing spritz.
If you’re inclined to give this more edge, by all means, bring out that tequila, add the Fentimans Pink Grapefruit Tonic Water, garnish with lime wedges. Your’re in for a treat!
Family Owned Since 1905
In 1905, Thomas Fentiman, an iron puddler from Cleckheaton, England was approached by a fellow tradesman for a loan. A deal was struck and a recipe for botanically brewed ginger beer was provided as security. The loan was never repaid so Thomas became the owner of the unique recipe.
What began for the family as a business of producing botanically brewed ginger beer became an empire 100 years later. To adapt to the demands of an ever changing world, Fentimans has been producing a variety of drinks including their famed tonic water lineup. Currently the business is still in the Fentimans family and is owned by the Eldon, the Great Grandson of Thomas Fentiman.
Though they have stayed loyal to tradition, there is one thing that has not changed: the superior quality, craftsmanship and unsurpassed flavour of every drink.
