The Échiré Unsalted Butter Sheets are specifically designed to save time and labor, and to give your croissants, puff pastry, and danishes that ideal crisp and flaky texture.

With its convenient size, and high fat content, these butter sheets make laminating dough so easy. You won’t need to do the extra step of beating the butter flat with a rolling pin. Just make your pastry dough, and lay your Échiré Unsalted Butter Sheets onto it, and fold as usual. The results are a gorgeous honeycomb texture, and a beautiful buttery flavor. Your croissants will never be the same.


Échiré is a dairy founded in 1891, on the banks of the Sèvre Niortaise River. From then to now, their butters have been manufactured in wooden barrels, which gives it its distinctive quality. They have over 60 farms, all within a 60-kilometer distance from each other, so all their cows enjoy the same pastures and the same environment. Échiré butter is churned with traditional expertise, slowly and carefully, ensuring the soft and creamy texture it is known for.

It has held an Appellation d’Origine Protégée (AOP) status since 1992, and is the primary butter used in gourmet restaurants and luxury hotels the world over. It is so loved, and has such a following that it’s sold in delicatessens in Paris, New York, and Tokyo.

Storage Instructions

Refrigerate your butter immediately after it arrives, leaving it in its original wrapper. The foil/paper helps prevent spoilage that may result from exposure to light and air and offers protection from the aromas and flavors of other foods in the refrigerator. Once opened, butter has a 2-month shelf life in the refrigerator. This period can be prolonged by freezing.
