The Handpicked Pinot Grigio is made with grapes from Venezia Giulia, refrigerated overnight before being pressed in whole bunches. A well-balanced white wine, it has aromas of citrus, pear, and white blossom. You get the same citrus and pear on the palate, with added notes of honey and dried ginger. It finishes clean and lingering.
Handpicked Wines’ Pinot Grigio is best paired with soft cheeses like Brie. For entrees, it’s great with Vietnamese-style duck dishes, chili prawns, or risotto. It’s also wonderful with seafood, especially unagi.
Founded by current managing director, William Dong, Handpicked Wines is an Australian company that makes wines with all the expressions of their region and vineyards. But William Dong created this company with little knowledge about the industry and the challenges that were to face him. He loved wine, and wanted to make wine that would bring people together. He quickly realized that to achieve this dream, he needed some of the best vineyards and the best people. He purchased the Capella Vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula in 2013, and from there have grown to own six vineyards spanning Mornington, Tasmania, Barossa Valley, and Yarra Valley. They’ve come a long way since, and still, they continue to grow. Their team is bigger, they’ve won awards, and they make wines in more regions. But their purpose remains: to share their love of wine to as many people as possible.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
