An excellent Chardonnay from Chablis Grand Cru, France, the Vaudesir is crisp and smooth, with a subtle elegance.

TASTING NOTES FROM THE CURATOR

Poised and elegant, the Domaine Roland Lavantureux Vaudesir Grand Cru gives a gorgeous pale straw yellow in color.

It’s effervescent on the nose, with intense notes of lemon, smoke, and chalk, and undertones of pear, apple, and honey. Crisp on the palate, it exudes bright and deliciously gorgeous notes of lemon, apple, and pair.

PREPARATION AND PAIRINGS

The first thing you’d want to pair with this Grand Cru is oysters. They complement each other so beautifully, making each other shine brightly.

Pair it, too, with any number of seafood dishes. Try with shrimp risotto, grilled fish, poached ![](salmon with a creamy sauce, steamed lobster, or sushi. For non-seafood options, this white wine is brilliant with pork kabobs, or sweetbreads.

ONLY THE BEGINNING

Marine and Gervais sold wines from their domain in barrels to Auxerre and Paris. It was Roland Lavantureux, their son, who was the first to bottle the wines. It was in 1979, and he gave his name to the domain. Together with his wife, Brigitte, they expanded said domain from five hectares to 20 hectares.

Today, his own sons, Arnaud and David, have taken over the family business. Arnaud focuses on the vineyard and the winemaking, and David is in charge of sales and marketing. Together, they strive to create and sell wines that are representative of their terroir. The wines of Lavantureux have fleshy cores, dynamic acidities, and saline finishes. This is a winery you will definitely here more of in years to come.
