Hario began as a glass production company in 1921 and took their heatproof glassmaking techniques with them into the coffee industry in 194 with their first glass filter syphon. Their V60 design, launched in the early 2000s is their most popular and famous. Its name comes from vector 60, or the 60° angle of its cone. This angle allows the water to flow perfectly to the center, extending contact time with the grounds and the single large drip hole allows the brewer to alter the flavor of the brew by speed of their water flow. The V60’s signature spiral ribs allow air to escape and maximize the expansion of the coffee grounds in the filter. All this put together—voila! A perfect brew.
This dripper is incredibly easy to use. Just grind your coffee beans to medium-fine, heat water to about 96°C, and brew! You’ll need about 2 and a half to 3 minutes for dark roasts, 3 to 4 minutes for light roasts. When you’re ready to serve, simply take off the V60 top and take your decanter out to serve.
Be sure to wash your decanter and dripper top between uses. Please handle the decanter with care. While it is heatproof, it can still crack if tipped over on a hard surface. The silicone hold band is removable and is best washed and dried separately.
