From the rising star of Portugal wine, the Luis Seabra Indie is a red wine blend of sustainably farmed grapes from a single vineyard in the Alijo region. It’s been aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, and has an ABV of 12.5%. This Douro wine has a rosy quality on the nose, with notes of black fruits, and hints of black pepper and violet. It’s bold and complex on the palate, with pleasant licorice notes.
The Luis Seabra Indie is best paired with red meats, like roasted rack of lamb or a sirloin steak. It’s also great with pâtés, risottos, and pasta with meat sauces.
Luis Seabra is oft referred to as a star of the “new Portugal” when it comes to wines. He made his name as a winemaker for Niepoort, creating some of the best wines to come out of Douro and Porto. But in 2013, he decided to go off on his own, therefore making his eponymous winery, making wines he wanted to make. Sourcing grapes from Douro’s and Vinho Verde’s top vineyards, he has a minimal-intervention approach that yields terroir-driven wines, ones that express all the authenticity of its regions.
Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
