This wine was named for Daniel Bouland’s daughter, Melanie. It’s made with 100% Gamay grapes, hand-harvested from old vines. It’s a fleshy wine, with a medium to full body. It has aromas of blueberry preserve, plum, and sweet spices. Dense and juicy on the palate, it gives notes of black cherry, plum, black currant, and fine tannins.
Pair the Daniel Bouland Brouilly Cuvee Melanie is great to pair with Camembert cheese, either a duck or pork roast, or a meat-based pasta.
Daniel Bouland is a not a new name, especially if you are familiar with the Beaujolais region. His eponymous domaine lies in the hamlet of Corcelette in Francem, and some of his vines are nearly a hundred years old. His terroirs are exceptional and diverse, planted on Vialla rootstock, on steep slopes. Despite his quality wine, and his wealth of experience, Bouland is a quiet vigneron that keeps mostly to himself and to his vines. He is humble, discreet, but incredibly hardworking, ensuring all of the grapes that grow in his domaine are cared for, and each bottle of wine is to a standard he upholds.
Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
