This wine is ruby red in color with violet trim, presenting an intense fruity aroma filled with cherry and strawberry mixed with black pepper and mint. On the mouth, it is elegant, with firm, ripe tannins in addition to a long-lasting finish. The fruit of a manual harvest, this wine was aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, then clarified and filtered before bottling.
This wine is the ideal companion for red meats, especially beef and game meats. From stews to steaks, lamb chops to Veal Milanese, this Cabernet Sauvignon will suit just perfectly. And if you’re having this with a cheese platter, we recommend cheeses of medium-high intensity, like Grana Padano or goat cheeses.
Cousiño-Macul produces 9 varieties of grapes on their Macul and Buin estates in the Alto Maipo region of Chile: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling. More than 60 percent of their vineyard space is dedicated to red wine grape production, marked by their traditional masales selections, which begin in the vine nurseries. This allows them to preserve the genetic vine strains brought to Chile By Luis Cousiño from Europe all the way back in 1860.
Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
