A rare and prized salt, it is said that Alexander the Great was the first to bring this precious Kashmir salt to Europe, around 350 years BC. A beautiful bottle of diamond-shaped salt crystals with a colored touch of rose pink.

TASTING NOTES FROM THE CURATOR

Extracted by hand deep in the heart of the Himalayan Mountains, Terre Exotique Himalayan Diamond Pink Salt contains over 84 minerals and trace elements including iron oxide which gives it its distinctly dusty pink color.

Known for its purity and strikingly beautiful color, these diamond salt crystals are not harvested from today’s oceans that contain numerous pollutants. Rather, these gems are fossilized crystals of sea salt, bathed by the ancient primal seas millions of years ago before being discovered in the salt mines of Khwara.

Beautifully hued salt crystals are shaped like diamond gems, this salt is slightly less salty and contains less moisture than fleur de sel. On the palate, it is soft and gentle, with a touch of lingering sweetness and devoid of any harsh or bitter tastes.

PREPARATION OR PAIRINGS

A neutral salt, Terre Exotique Himalayan Diamond Pink Salt Crystals is an ideal salt for everyday use, whether it be as a finishing salt or in a shaker on your table set.

The drier crystalline structure of this salt means it absorbs moisture faster and melts quicker than salts such as the Fleur de Sel Guerande. We recommend using it for delicate salads or as a finishing salt for steaks and grilled meats as they come off the grill.

Prepare a luxurious French dinner with a pan-seared Ernest Soulard Foie Gras escalopes, lightly seasoned with Terre Exotique Diamond Salt and pepper. Pair with a Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon.

THE PUREST OF SALTS

At a time before the industrial revolution, machineries and pollutants came to being, the rose salt crystals were formed almost 200 million years ago. Borne by the collision of the Indo-Australia and Eurasian plates, the slow evaporation of this ocean water left behind these beautiful salt gems.

Mined by hand in the world’s second largest salt mine, Khewra Salt Mine in the Himalayas, the Diamond Salt Pink Crystals contain over 48 minerals and trace elements, one of which is iron oxide, which lends the crystal its beautiful rose pink hue.
