Speri Valpolicella Classico DOC 2018
An Organic Classic Italian Favorite
The red wine known as Valpolicella originates from an area of the same name which is regarded as the viticultural zone of the province of Verona. It is regarded as one of the best and sought after Italian red wines of the region along with being the first Italian appellation by value, second to only Chianti and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo in red wine production. This wine, along with all products by Speri are Certified Organic. The Speri Winery is the most important organic producer of the Valpolicella Classico area in terms of output and of hectares of vineyard.
Tasting Notes from the Curator
Valpolicella is typically made from three grape varieties: 60% Corvina Veronese, 30% Rondinella, and 10% Molinara. This wine is a young, immediate red which retains the essence of the earth from which it was cultivated. It is ruby red in color with purplish highlights and an intense, vinous bouquet, with hints of violets and cherries. A medium-bodied, fruity wine, to be enjoyed young.
This Speri Valpolicella Classico DOC is characterised by fragrant scents and fresh flavours and is the ideal accompaniment for any kind of dish. Makes an ideal pairing partner to hors d’oeuvres, soups, pasta and typical Mediterranean dishes.
From the Faithful Interpreter of Valpolicella Classico
Valpolicella Classico – as the name suggests – was the original wine produced in the region. It remains the most popular Valpolicella today and is produced in the largest quantities. The vineyards from which this is produced is owned by the Speri family in Valpolicella Classico area, lying in the municipalities of San Pietro in Cariano, Fumane and Negrar.
The Speri Winery, one of the historical families of Valpolicella, is an authoritative and faithful interpreter of Valpolicella Classico wines that has become, due to its uninterrupted traditions and strong territorial roots, a landmark in Italian winemaking.
In 2015, after practicing years of sustainable farming, the Winery achieved organic certification for all of the production.
The Speri family, respecting its territorial heritage, has always cultivated exclusively the native grape varieties of the Valpolicella zone (Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara and other indigenous varieties), making wine only from grapes coming from its own vineyards and itself overseeing the entire production process.
