Defined a Southern Italy Red, this Mandrarossa Frappato Costadune bursts of vibrant red fruits-a medley of cherry, strawberry, red currant and even raspberries. It packs a slight hint of spice- pepper, cinnamon and licorice. On the nose, a whiff of rose petals and rose hip, akin to a fragrant perfume. It is usually harvested on the 1st week of September at an altitude of 250mt above sea level. After maceration and fermentation of 4-6 days at 22-25°C it is then matured for at least 3-4 months in steel vats. It is classified under Terre Siciliane IGT.
This fragrant wine goes well with grilled poultry, roasted tuna and fish soups. Lamb and beef based dishes also shine with this wine.
Mandrarossa is the result of over 20 years of research: expression of a different Sicily, which innovates and experiments. The unexpected side of Sicily. The Mandrarossa team takes pride in the research efforts they have placed in assembling international oenologists, agronomists and terroir experts. The Mandrarossa territory is in a hillside area surrounded by limestone patent rock from marine origin. Their research has allowed them to unlock the true potential of this rather unusual microterroir. Intense micro-vinification activities were carried out leading to the introduction of new wines into the product line over time, some of which, unique for the Sicilian panorama.
Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
