Mitchell’s Back­yard Brew­ery offers a crisp pale ale with a full, hop­py char­ac­ter. This qual­i­ty local brew won sil­ver in the Amer­i­can Pale Ale cat­e­go­ry of the 2019 Asia Beer Championship. 


Pale ales sit right between light lagers and dark stouts when it comes to malti­ness and taste. Amer­i­can Pale Ale from Mitchell’s Back­yard Brew­ery is refresh­ing, crisp, and thirst-quench­ing, loaded with aro­mat­ic Amer­i­can hops that give it a beau­ti­ful bal­ance between fruiti­ness and bit­ter­ness on a bright, toast­ed malt back­ground. As a nod to Eng­lish Pale Ales, from which this type devi­at­ed, Mitchell’s brew fin­ish­es with love­ly wheat notes lin­ger­ing on the palate.


With its toasty malt fla­vor, Amer­i­can Pale Ale is a very food-friend­ly, ver­sa­tile choice for a back­yard bar­be­cue or a light meal. It goes with sal­ads — both those with bal­sam­ic and creamy dress­ings — a large por­tion of roast chick­en, or a hearty, well-spiced bowl of chili. Along­side cheeses, it works best with fruity Ched­dars, and can also com­ple­ment the fresh salti­ness of steamed clams or grilled fish. For a slow evening in, it works great with meaty piz­zas, and com­ple­ments Mex­i­can fla­vors like cumin, cilantro, and jalapeño.


The first tru­ly Amer­i­can Pale Ale came from Sier­ra Neva­da Brew­ing Com­pa­ny and this became the stan­dard by which all pale ale is mea­sured. The con­trast between Eng­lish and Amer­i­can Pale Ales comes down to its brew­ing ingre­di­ents: British malts are nut­ty and robust while Amer­i­can ones are soft­er and crisper; Eng­lish hops are flo­ral, earthy, and refined while Amer­i­can ones have a brash cit­rus and pine pro­file. Quite the depar­ture, indeed!

Storage Instructions

Store beer bot­tles upright to pre­vent yeast rings from appear­ing. They must be kept in a cool, dark place at approx­i­mate­ly 13°C. Don’t allow beer to be caught in bright light for long peri­ods of time to pre­vent it from attain­ing a skunky” taste. It is rec­om­mend­ed to place your beers in the chiller before serv­ing or drink­ing. These beers are best enjoyed cold. Con­sume with­in 2 weeks.
