The Greenland Halibut is also known as Black Halibut, and is found in the north Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, in the deep, icy cold waters off the coasts of Greenland and Canada.
This flatfish is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, and has snowy white meat that yields large flakes. With a firm but lean meat, the Greenland Halibut has a delicate, sweet, mild flavor.
This Greenland Halibut Portion comes to you frozen, and ready to use in a variety of dishes. It can be baked, grilled, used in sushi, breaded and pan-fried, or served in a butter sauce. Cook it on medium heat to keep the natural moisture in. It’s great paired with fresh or roasted vegetables with a touch of lemon, and a dry white wine.
Greenland halibuts are born with asymmetrical bodies, with an eye on either side of their head. Once it grows bigger, one of its eyes shifts toward the other side of their head, but not all the way. The result is that both eyes are practically on the same side.
