Obtained from hydro-distilling Centifolia and Damascena roses, the Terre Exotique Rose Water is filled with natural flavors and aromas. It has a delicate floral smell, but a concentrated flavor. A little goes a long way with this rose water.

PREPARATION AND PAIRINGS

Popular in Asian and Mediterranean dishes, rose water is great to impart a bit of delicate aroma and flavor to creams, ice creams, yogurts, and teas. It pairs well with spices like cardamom, saffron, and jasmine, as well as pistachios, almonds, and coconuts. It also complements zesty fruits, like orange and lemon. Use it to flavor sugar, honey, or syrup. You can also use it for baking, like in cookies, Turkish delight, and other desserts.

ROSES ARE RED

Roses have been a symbol of beauty for millennia, with roses themselves likely originating from Central Asia. Roses have been found in paintings in tombs and ancient documents. Legend has it that Cleopatra loved roses so much, that she filled her fountain with rose water, and her bedroom with rose petals. Nebuchadnezzar of Persia was also said to have slept on a mattress filled with rose petals.

Likely originating in Persia (modern-day Iran), rose water is the byproduct of making rose oil (or ittar/attar of roses), a mix of essential oils that are obtained by steam-distilling crushed rose petals. This refined rose water was said to have been invented by Persian chemists in medieval Islam, paving the way for more innovations in the perfume industry. To this day, around 90% of rose water sold around the world comes from Iran.

Storage Instructions

Store your rose water in a cool, dark area. You can also refrigerate it. It should stay good for about 1 year.
