The Storm Wild Air Sauvignon Blanc is a collaboration between Ben Henshaw of Indigo Wines, and Hannes Storm of Storm Wines. This white wine is from Hemel-en-Aarde in South Africa, fermented in mostly French oak barrels, and has an ABV of 12.5%. Light and dry, it has a brilliant freshness, and is crisp and buttery on the palate. It has fruity notes of green apple and melon.
Pair your Storm Wild Air Sauvignon Blanc with goat cheese, or smoked meats, like smoked pork, or smoked chicken and turkey. It also goes great with Mediterranean cuisine.
Hannes Storm, well-known in the wine industry, worked as winemaker for the revered Hamilton Russel Winery in South Africa for a decade. Leaving his esteemed job to start his own brand, he discovered two small parcels of land—one in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, and another in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, that had extraordinary quality. The vineyards were then planted in 2008, and 2012 was its maiden vintage.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
