Merry Moo Golden Malted Goodness Ice Cream is a treat. With its sweet, creamy base, and delicious add-ons, it’s definitely something you’ll want in your freezer regularly.
The malted milk ice cream base is toasty, roasty, and buttery in flavor. Mixed in with the already delicious base are dark chocolate chunks and almond pralines. It’s a great combination of flavors: buttery, nutty, a little bitter, and a little sweet.
The Merry Moo Golden Malted Goodness Ice Cream is great to enjoy on its own. Top with some crushed butter cookies, or crushed peanuts (or both). Put one or two scoops into a cup or small bowl, and pour some espresso on it—a leveled up affogato! Put a scoop onto a freshly baked brownie, or a chocolate lava cake, or even on a buttery pound cake.
Also referred to as Horlicks, malted milk was developed by a London pharmacist by the name of James Horlick. It was born by his desire to create an improved wheat- and malt-based nutritional supplement for infants. He joined his brother, William, in Wisconsin, USA, and formed J&W Horlicks in 1873. They manufactured infant food in Chicago, and ten years later, earned a patent for their new infant formula that was enhanced with dried milk. Originally marketed as “Diastoid,” they trademarked the product as “malted milk” in 1887.
Though it was originally made as a nutritional food for infants, malted milk gained popularity in other markets. Because it was lightweight, non-perishable, and nutritious, explorers brought it along on treks. It also became a common offering at American soda shops, and birthed “malt shops” when it was mixed with ice cream.

Store ice cream in the main part of the freezer. Do not store ice cream in the freezer door, where ice cream can be subject to more fluctuating temperatures since the door is repeatedly open and shut. Keep the ice cream container lid tightly closed when storing in the freezer to reduce the formation of ice crystals.
