The Rians Le Roulé is a fresh cow milk cheese, sprinkled with savory or sweet ingredients—in this case, pineapple. The cheese is then hand rolled into its iconic swirl, and cut into beautiful slices.
The cheese is light, fluffy and creamy, sweet and delicious. The addition of pineapple makes it beautifully fragrant, and adds a sweet-tart taste to it. The balance of flavors is refreshing and airy.
PREPARATION AND PAIRINGS
Believe us when we tell you to enjoy the Rians Le Roulé Pineapple on its own. It is so delicious, adding anything to it would only serve to distract from its amazing flavor. Of course, if you must, it’s great to serve as part of your cheeseboard, or in your salads. But it’s best as is. Treat it like a dessert, and pair with a nice warming cup of tea.
A spreadable cheese made with fresh cow’s milk, Le Roulé (meaning “roll”) comes from Rians, in the region of Les Vosges in northeastern France. It’s made with local cheese, and has been made the exact same way since 1980. No mass production here! Each cheese is rolled by hand, and packaged by hand. This attention to detail is what makes it—and keeps it, a classic.
Cheeses (except brined ones in jars) should be stored in the crisper or the butter drawer of a refrigerator, not on the shelves themselves. This is to help regulate their temperature and humidity levels—and prevents the formation of mold. Once opened, they should not be kept in their original packaging. This fresh cheese should be stored in a lidded plastic or glass container in the refrigerator. Kindly pay attention to the best before date label when you receive your cheese.
