A rich and decadent pour is how The Griffo Barreled Whiskey is often described. It offers aromas of coffee beans and unsweetened dark chocolate. You will find more of that black coffee, hints of chocolate malt, as well as fresh figs and caramel on the palate.
Enjoy a glass of this decadent whiskey with a side of some tangy or tart fruit such as apples or pears, salty nuts, dark chocolates or cheeses such as Crottin de Chavignol or Gorgonzola. You may also find this a pleasant addition to your red meat or smoked salmon meals.
This decadent whiskey is aged in new American Oak barrels then finished in used stout beer barrels from Lagunitas Brewery of California. Griffo has put emphasis on their exquisite attention to detail and high quality sourcing of Californian-grown ingredients used in every batch. From formal analysis to custom still controls, they infuse every step of the spirit-making process with ingenuity and precision to create bottles of this whiskey that are both beautiful and complex. Although different from the usual favored whiskeys such as that of Japanese whiskeys, you will find this American made batch pleasant to drink and a good contender for its quality and price.
Store your bottle upright in a cool, dark place, ideally between 15 and 20°C. Do not refrigerate, as this liquor loses its aroma and flavor with cold. To maintain the moistness of the cork and prevent it from chipping, occasionally tilt your bottle horizontally two to three times, then restore it to the upright position. Unopened bottles can last for an indefinite amount of time, but the closer you get to the bottom third of the bottle, please consume quickly to prevent oxidation and taste alteration.
