Master distiller Sergio Vivanco’s Selección de 1414 comes from his family’s five generations of expertise in in Arandas, Jalisco. Tequila from their plantation takes its flavor from their unparalleled agave terroir.

TASTING NOTES FROM THE CURATOR

Though the Vivanco family has been making tequila since the end of the Mexican Revolution, they only achieved their dream of establishing Destilería El Ranchito in 1994. Pale straw in color, rich, and well-balanced, Selección de 1414 benefits from the Vivanco tradition of fermenting their agave mash with field-extracted wild yeast. This results in a reposado tequila with the strong, comforting scent of vegetal chapparal and roasted sweet potatoes, and a taste akin to salted vanilla cookies, allspice, and a hint of chile heat.

PREPARATION OR PAIRINGS

Aged less than a year, reposado tequila takes on faint oak, caramel, and vanilla notes from the barrel it’s aged in, making it perfect for pairing with bold, spicy flavors. Sweet chili shrimp or barbecued meats like ribs go well with this tequila, no frills. As do, of course, all sorts of tacos!

Mixologists everywhere reach of for a reposado when they make the classic Margarita, but you can also use it to balance the rye whiskey in a Manhattan, put together an Old Fashioned without bitters, or make yourself a Mexican Mule.

CURATORS OF DISTINGUISHED TEQUILA

Tequila ArteNOM chooses to represent tequila distilleries from all over the Jalisco state in Mexico. They make their selections based on distinct altitude, heritage, agave cultivation, and the distillation techniques used there. Each distillery is led by a master distiller, making an art of the very name of tequila.

Storage Instructions
