Made of 100% Tinta de Pais or Tempranillo, popular in the Spanish region. It is aged for 6 months in french and american barrels & 6 months in bottle. It maintains a bright red cherry color with a purple rim. On the nose it is frank and intense, where aromas of red and black fruit stand out, accompanied by spicy and light toasted notes. It’s taste has a good structure, fruity, fresh, with a sweet, balanced oak and with very pleasant soft tannins.

Pairings

This wine can easily go well with a variety of dishes but its is especially a match made in heaven for tomato-based dishes, such as pasta pomodoro, puttanesca, stuffed eggplant, meat stews. This dry red also goes best with chistorra, salami and semi-aged cheeses. Ideally served at 15-16º

The Bodegas Protos Heritage

Bodegas Protos was founded in March 1927 by 11 wine growers from Peñafiel under the name Bodega Ribera Duero. Their aim and motto was to produce premium quality wines from the outstanding Tinto Fino Grapes cultivated in this land. 55 years later Protos authorizes the Ribera Duero trademark to be used to name Ribera del Duero Appellation of Origin.

Until today, Protos is continously expanding. The quality and prestige the Winery acquired in the eighties led a highly recognized vine-growing area to take on its own name, Ribera del Duero, to identify the D.O. Control Board that watches over the quality of area wines. In 1995, the wine-aging cellar was enlarged and the Winery succeeded in the international winemaking panorama.

The project continues growing: In the town of Anguix (Burgos), Protos has acquired a winery that has the latest cutting-edge technology. It can produce up to three million kilos of grapes, of which 1.5 million kilos go through the sorting table.

Among the accolades this winery has won: Wine And Spirits Winery of the Year and Marca de Excelencia by the International Superbrands Council.

Storage Instructions

Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
