This Shiraz by Handpicked Wines is made with hand-harvested grapes from the Barossa Valley, and has an ABV of 14%. The grapes were aged for 12 months in new and old French oak barrels. It has spicy berry aromas with notes of chocolate and mint. A rich and full-bodied Shiraz, it has flavors of ripe forest fruits and spices, with notes of oak and supple tannins.
The Handpicked Shiraz is brilliant paired with hearty dishes like vegetable stew, curries, or beef bourguignon. It also goes great with spicy foods, roast vegetables, or grilled or barbecued lamb.
Founded by current managing director, William Dong, Handpicked Wines is an Australian company that makes wines with all the expressions of their region and vineyards. But William Dong created this company with little knowledge about the industry and the challenges that were to face him. He loved wine, and wanted to make wine that would bring people together. He quickly realized that to achieve this dream, he needed some of the best vineyards and the best people. He purchased the Capella Vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula in 2013, and from there have grown to own six vineyards spanning Mornington, Tasmania, Barossa Valley, and Yarra Valley. They’ve come a long way since, and still, they continue to grow. Their team is bigger, they’ve won awards, and they make wines in more regions. But their purpose remains: to share their love of wine to as many people as possible.
Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
