An enjoyable young wine, with aromas and flavors of cinnamon. chocolate and Mocha. Lots of black fruit and jam flavors which gives a perfect balance sweet and dry, with the scale moving to the latter. Slightly acidic and tannic. Full bodied. Deep purple with a ruby hue. Subtle spice notes with a nice long finish.
Works well with beef, lamb and gamey meats like deer and venison. Also makes a great wine for a pintxos or tapas spread.
La Planta is a red wine from Ribera del Duero elaborated in Arzuaga winery. This wine is produced with Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) grapes that are over 20 years old.
They all come from the estate La Planta, located in Quintanilla de Onésimo, right in the heart of Ribera del Duero, and lends it name to the wine. A clayey limestone soil over unbroken bedrock within one meter down the surface and an altitude of about 900 metres of altitude give La Planta wine its special features.
To elaborate La Planta wine, once the optimal maturation point is reached, the hand-picking process and the storage in 15kg crates ended, clusters are sorted on a table to be later de-stemmed and vatted in stainless steel tanks, where they undergo cold maceration and alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures between 22ºC and 24ºC. The ageing in French and American oak casks during a period of six months produce a mature and elegant fruity wine.
La Planta red wine has bagged a lot of awards:
In 2010: Silver Medal in Mundus Vini, Gold Medal in Monde Selection de Bruxelles and Silver Medal in Decanter World Wine Awards.
In 2011: Silver Medal in Mundus Vini and Silver Medal in Decanter World Wine Awards.

Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
