This fig chutney is sweet, and delicious, and goes with almost everything.

NOTES FROM THE CURATOR

Chutneys are made of different fruits, vegetables, and spices, and used as a sweet or tangy addition to a meal.

This Castaing chutney is made of figs, onions, orange rind, pepper, and vinegar. It’s sweet on the palate, but with a slight tang to balance out the flavor. It’s an incredible product, adding an extra layer of flavor to your dishes, without overpowering them.

PAIRINGS AND PREPARATION

The very good news is that you can use fig chutney for a wide variety of things. You can use it as simply as serving it on your cheese platters. It will pair beautifully with our Brie de Meaux, our Camembert de Normandie, or any other soft cheese.

This is also a foie gras chutney, incredible when paired with the French delicacy. (See our array of Castaing Foie Gras offers)

Top your salads and oatmeal with it, or experiment with an assortment of sandwiches:

  • Fontina and Fig Chutney Grilled Cheese – layer fontina cheese, Castaing fig chutney, and prosciutto between slices of baguette
  • Turkey Panini with Fig Chutney – Use sourdough bread lightly brushed with olive oil to sandwich slices of roast turkey, some brie, a smearing of Castaing fig chutney, and a sprinkling of arugula

You can even use fig chutney to top your grilled chicken, braised duck breast, or leg of lamb.

There is no limit to what you can do with a Castaing chutney.

A LONG LINE OF EXCELLENCE

The Castaing family have been at the forefront of fine French gastronomy for generations, from as far back as 1900. But it wasn’t until 1925, when Joseph Castaing founded Maison Castaing that the family cemented its role as ambassadors of fine food. Located in Landes in the South of France, the company makes and distributes the finest foie gras, terrines, confit, and other gastronomic delights to various prestigious hotels, restaurants, retailers, and delicatessens worldwide.
