### TASTING NOTES FROM THE CURATOR The Luxardo Cherry Liqueur has been produced since 1821, and uses Marasca cherries aged in oak vats. It’s thick and syrupy, with a rich, cherry aroma and flavor. It has an ABV of 30%, and is GMO-free, kosher, and vegan-friendly.
It exudes a clear, deep red color, and strong aromas of freshly squeezed cherry juice. Its taste is intense, sweet with a fruity tartness, with a cherry jam, amaretto aftertaste.
You can use the Sangue Morlacco in many classic cocktails, like the Singapore Sling, or the Cherry Negroni. This Cherry Liqueur from Luxardo can also be drunk neat over ice, as after-dinner drink. Try it drizzled over mixed berries, or over ice cream, too.
The name “Sangue Morlacco” means “Morlacco’s Blood. It was given by Gabriele D’Annunzio, an Italian poet, in 1919 to honor the Morlachs (or Morlaccos) who were warriors from Dalmatia who fought and defended the Republic of Venice from the Turks.
Store your bottle upright in a cool, dark place, ideally between 12 and 15°C. Unopened bottles can last for an indefinite amount of time, but the closer you get to the bottom third of the bottle, please consume quickly to prevent oxidation and taste alteration.
