Beautiful wine, beautiful flavor
A very bold, dry red wine, the Quevedo Q Grande Reserva from Portugal comes in an exquisite box, making it the perfect gift.
TASTING NOTES FROM THE CURATOR
A rich, ruby color, this Douro wine is fragrant, exuding a butterscotch aroma. It gives off flavors of dark berries and fruit, and is a generous and balanced wine.
The Quevedo Q Grande Reserva comes in a gorgeous box made of dark stained wood. Delicately engraved are the labels, in beautiful gold writing. An elegant cut out of the letter Q is found in the middle, showing off the bright golden Q on the bottle label.
Aesthetically gorgeous, and completely delicious, this Portugal gem is perfect to give as gifts, or to display on a shelf, ready to open for any celebration.
PREPARATIONS AND PAIRINGS
A sweet Port wine complements salty cheese, like a Parmigiano Reggiano, so beautifully.
The Quevedo Q Grande Reserva shines its brightest when paired with red meats, like a good juicy steak, a roast rack of lamb, or a perfectly seared venison. It also goes so well with a good pasta.
For dessert, try having this Douro delight with some slices of fresh melon, or a crème brulée. Another curious and tasty combination is tawny port paired with vanilla or coffee ice cream.
AN EXACTING PROCESS
Quevedo prides itself on its quality wines, and boasts its careful and exacting processes. The production of the Quevedo Q Grande Reserva is no different.
This particular wine was harvested in the Autumn of 2014, when the berries were firm and plump and bursting with flavor. Made of a blend of choice grapes, namely the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz—all of which are famous for their small and sweet-smelling fruit, this Portugal wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 10 days.
A long maceration period occurs at 25˚C, and to avoid the extraction of any dry tannins, low pumping is utilized.
The wine is then matured for 14 months in new 500L French oak casks, giving it its uniquely nutty, caramel aroma and flavor.
Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
