The Viennoiserie as told by Makati Shangri-La
While many believe that the Danish originated from the Danes, this viennoiserie was a beautiful mistake 350 years ago by a French apprentice baker named Claudius Gelee.
Forgetting to initially add butter to his dough, he tried to correct his mistake by folding lumps of butter into the dough. Thus the technique of lamination was born, the process of folding and rolling dough and butter to create visible delicate layers resulting in pastries that are light, airy and melt-in-your-mouth.

A delicious pastry of the viennoiserie tradition, these Danish pastries from the master pâtissiers of Makati Shangri-La boasts a light, flaky and buttery crust, garnished with your choice of luscious toppings then brushed with a sweet kiss of sugar glaze for a beautiful shine.
Mixed Berries & Cocoa Danish: A melt-in-your-mouth danish garnished with a gorgeous bouquet of fresh, ripe mangoes and lime zest. This danish is rich, buttery and sweetly refreshing.
Mango & Lime Danish: A chocolate danish generously topped with luscious berries and toasted nuts over a dark chocolate glaze. This danish is a bittersweet dance between rich and sweet chocolates and juicy, tart berries.
Hazelnut & Chocolate Chip Danish: Generously topped with barks of 64% dark chocolate and toasted hazelnuts, this danish is buttery rich, sinfully sweet, and absolutely decadent.

PREPARATION OR PAIRINGS
A quality pastry such as Makati Shangri-La’s is delicious as is. To fully appreciate the contrast of textures and flavors of the flaky pastry, creamy filling and luscious toppings, enjoy this viennoiserie at room temperature.
A cup of Kimbo Coffee Espresso Napoletano or any coffee with notes of chocolate and caramel will beautifully complement the rich, malty chocolate flavors of the Mixed Berries and Chocolate and Hazelnut Danishes.

Baked fresh on Saturday mornings at Makati Shangri-La. Best consumed upon arrival, but you can store it at room temperature overnight in their original packaging. For storage up to a week, wrap them in parchment paper or plastic wrap and refrigerate. Alternatively, you can freeze your parchment-wrapped viennoiserie in a ziplock bag for up to two weeks.
To refresh refrigerated viennoiserie, preheat your oven to 200°C and place the pastry on a baking tray with a loose covering of foil. Bake for 5 – 10 minutes (depending on your oven) then allow to cool to desired temperature. The same process applies to frozen viennoiserie. Just thaw them overnight first!
