Blackberries are characterized by their interestingly inky color with subtle purple sheen. They’re juicy and plump, with a soft, succulent texture. Their shape looks similar to raspberries, but unlike raspberries, their centers are not hollow.
Blackberries are sweet and only slightly tart, with the middle part being just a tiny bit bitter. It’s juicy in flavor, with earthy undertones. They are great to add into pancakes, or turn into jams. They also go great baked in pies and cakes, as well as mixed with balsamic vinegar and drizzled over salads. It’s also a great source of antioxidants, and vitamin C.
