These gingerbread cookies are not like your typical brittle, almost hard variety that you often find in shops during the season. They are not like the ones often shaped like the smiling gingerbread man nor those used as foundations for gingerbread houses. These cookies by Casa Saporzi are more on the crumbly and soft side of the cookie spectrum, often described as a cross between a biscuit and cake. They are easy to eat by anyone (and we mean anyone!) due to its likeable texture.
They pack the amazing aroma and flavors of ground ginger, freshly grated nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon. Accompanied by premium local muscovado sugar or raw cane sugar and the Queen of French butter, Échiré AOP, Casa Saporzi Yuletide Grasmere Gingerbread Cookies bring a wonderful blend of spicy-sweet. The mix of flavors in every box is perfect to enjoy as a merienda serving or an after-dinner treat this holiday season.
The Casa Saporzi Yuletide Gingerbread Cookies are versatile and can be served alongside a variety of drinks.
On the booze route? Take this with a single malt Irish Whiskey that is dried fruit-forward with vanilla and spice notes like Teeling or a Griffo Barreled Whiskey that packs a classic bourbon nutty sweetness and an evolving coffee and chocolate stout profile.
You may also try making The Bow Tie Duck founders’ version of a “Grog Cocktail” using Diplomatico Rum,lemon juice, Pyur PH Earl Grey Tea, Pyur PH Honey Dipped Lemon as well as their Local Honey. You’re in for a warm comforting drink that compliments the spices of the cookies.
If you’d like to pair this with ice cream, give it a go with Kurimu’s Chai Latte Ice Cream.
Casa Saporzi is founded by The Bow Tie Duck’s Co-founder and Chief Operations officer, Raizza Encinas. She started Casa Saporzi as a baking project to allow her to have days (outside of Bow Tie Duck work) to be in her favorite place, the kitchen. The one true place where she feels grounded and that allows her to unwind.
Her love for the kitchen is inspired by her late grandmother Columbina, the homemaker of a family of seven kids. Her grandmother was so engrossed in the kitchen during her days that she started amassing a collection of her own recipes, typewritten (with a typewriter!) in little index cards. These recipes, both for scrumptious, homey dishes and loved baked desserts, have been passed down within the Encinas family and has inspired a number of members, including Raizza, to continue the tradition of home cooking and home baking.
Casa Saporzi’s name comes from the word “sapor,” which pertains to the substance in food that produces taste and flavor. It is also an amalgamation of the names of the owner’s cats. This dual meaning perfectly reflects what Casa Saporzi stands for: quality food made with all the love of a home kitchen.
Casa Saporzi offers a range of home baked treats such as olive oil cakes and cookies and will soon offer a variety of original creations.
These cookies are best eaten in room temperature. They will last in room temperature (away from heat and humidity) in an airtight container for up to 5 days. To store longer, transfer to a tupperware and place in fridge. Consume no more than 3 weeks.
