Sablé are also referred to as French butter cookies or Sable Breton. These cookies are French, coming from Sablé-sur-Sarthe. They appear to be as well-liked in France as chocolate chip cookies are in the United States. Sable, which translates to “sand” in French, alludes to the sand-like texture of these delicate, crumbly cookies.
Casa Saporzi comes in, giving these sablé cookies a little spin. Add in some wonderful bourbon whiskey, replace normal sugar for the complex earthy muscovado & espresso coffee, throw in authentic vanilla beans from Madagascar & finally dump a loadful of single-origin chopped chocolate and choco chips. Of course, to keep up with the classic, only French butter is used.
What you get is an addictive batch of cookies that are not too hard nor too soft, and that have a delicate sweetness and burnt butter taste. We have given the warning, once you get 1, you’ll see the end of the jar in no time!
Each jar contains 5-6 cookies, weighing around 35-40g each. They are placed in food-grade plastic jars and sealed.
Casa Saporzi is founded by The Bow Tie Duck’s Co-founder and Chief Operations officer, Raizza Encinas. She started Casa Saporzi as a baking project to allow her to have days (outside of Bow Tie Duck work) to be in her favorite place, the kitchen. The one true place that she feels grounded and that allows her to unwind.
Her love for the kitchen is inspired by her late grandmother Columbina, the homemaker of a family of seven kids. Her grandmother was so engrossed in the kitchen during her days that she started amassing a collection of her own recipes, typewritten (with a typewriter!) in little index cards. These recipes, both for scrumptious, homey dishes and loved baked desserts, have been been passed down within the Encinas family and has inspired a number of members, including Raizza, to continue the tradition of home cooking and home baking.
Casa Saporzi’s name comes from the word “sapor,” which pertains to the substance in food that produces taste and flavor. It is also an amalgamation of the names of the owner’s cats. This dual meaning perfectly reflects what Casa Saporzi stands for: quality food made with all the love of a home kitchen.
Casa Saporzi offers a range of home baked treats such as olive oil cakes and cookies and will soon offer a variety of original creations.
These cookies have a good shelf life so expect them to last in room temperature (not exposed to heat or moisture) in their original jars, in your chosen air locked containers or in ziploc bags for up to 3 weeks from bake date.
If you need them stored for longer, they can be frozen. When you’re ready to thaw your baked cookies, let them sit at room temperature or heat them up in the oven for a couple of minutes. Never thaw and refreeze. Please note though that if you will opt for the freezing method, there is no guarantee that the cookies will retain its original taste.
While some people opt for storing them in the fridge, this can cause extreme dryness to the cookie so store them in the fridge only at your own discretion.
