Tasting Notes from the Curator
On the nose, the Stony Point Whiskey maintains a certain sharpness that comes through dabs of citrus. On the palate, it exudes something luscious with a prominent spice. This whisky sits heavily on the savoury side, giving off a peppery and mouth watering finish. If you love your whiskey grainy, then this is the drink for you.
For a full-bodied whiskey like the Griffo Distillery Stony Point Whiskey, best pair it with hearty dishes. This type of drink marries well with rich, fatty dishes like broiled salmon. They are also an excellent choice for bitter pairings such as strong cheeses such as Gorgonzola Piccante and Gorgonzola Dolce or some dark chocolate.
Crafted with Care
Great spirits come from great ingredients. Griffo Distillery mils all natural and hand-selected organic corn and rye directly into their kettle, allowing the grains to be kept in through distillation. The whiskey is distilled through a 250-gallon, custom-made copper pot still named Betty. This crafts a soft and nutty, corn palate with a spicy rye finish. Stony Point Whiskey is carefully aged in local barrels with both American and French oak to tune the curve and balance the spirit. It is not a doubt that quality, freshness and locality are at the forefront in the making of every batch.
