Made of 36% toasted milk, combined with freeze-dried strawberries, the 1919 Toasted Milk and Strawberry Chocolate is an incredible tree to bar delight. The bar is a beautiful muted yellow, flecked with pink. And when they tell you it’s a strawberry chocolate, they mean it. The strawberry flavor is very pronounced, but not overwhelming, thanks to the toasted milk balancing out the tartness.
1919 Chocolate PH is the only Philippine chocolate company to offer this flavor, and they do it so well. It’s a delicious treat, and a bar is tempting enough to finish on your own. This will go incredibly with a nice floral tea. Pyur’s Rose Buds Tea would be a nice complement. For a fruitier experience, have it with a cup of Pyur’s Peach Roselle Tea.
Made of cocoa butter, sugar, milk solids, and sometimes vanilla, white chocolate was said to have been introduced in 1936, when Swiss company, Nestlé, launched Galak (also known as Milkybar) in Europe. Eventually, other companies followed suit, and developed their own formulas, with Hershey’s launching the mass production of white chocolate Kisses in the 90s.
Store your chocolates in a cool, dark place, ideally between 18 to 24°C. You can use the refrigerator, but place the chocolate in an airtight container to keep the moisture and humidity out—and retain its full range of flavors, of course!
