TASTING NOTES FROM THE CURATOR

The Lindemans Gueuze Lambic Beer (pronounced “guh-za”) is a classic Belgian beer with an ABV of 5%. It’s aged in oak casks for up to two years, and gives off a gorgeous golden, light blond color.

It has a fruity, yeasty aroma, with musty, woody notes. Its flavor is sweet, oaky, fruity, and dry, with a slightly sour finish and notes of Champagne and rhubarb.

PREPARATION AND PAIRINGS

Pair the Lindemans Gueuze Lambic Beer is best paired with salted fish, or fish with a cream sauce. You can also enjoy it with mussels, chicken, and turkey. Or, for something different, use it in cooking like you would wine!

Try this Stir-Fried Chicken with Lindemans Gueuze sauce for a different twist on your usual meal:

  • In a bowl, combine Lindemans Gueuze with soy sauce. Season with pepper and thyme.
  • Cut your chicken fillets (you can use thigh fillets) into strips, and soak them in your Lindemans Gueuze marinade.
  • In a wok with oil, stir-fry finely cut onions and minced garlic. Add in chopped mushrooms and cook for 6 minutes.
  • Take the mushrooms out of the wok and set aside.
  • Pour a little more oil into the wok, and take each chicken strip out of the bowl and place them in the wok. Stir-fry for 4 minutes.
  • Add the mushrooms back in, and pour in the marinade. Let it heat up for 2 minutes.
  • Served with freshly cooked rice.

A FRUITY ENDEAVOR

The Lindemans family has been in the business of beer brewing since 1822. Founded on a small farm in Vlezenbeek, Belgium by Frans Lindemans, they pride themselves as being set apart from everyone else, boasting a brewery and beers that are made uniquely the way they want.

They specialize in lambic beer, which begins its life with spontaneous fermentation and no human intervention. It’s known as one of the oldest styles of beer, and is usually sour and flavored with fruits.

The success of Brouwerij Lindemans in 1930 paused their agricultural activity, as focus was given more onto the brewing of Gueuze and Kriek. They eventually kept producing more types of lambic beer with great success, with the most recent one—apple, introduced in 2005.

Storage Instructions

Store beer bottles upright to prevent yeast rings from appearing. They must be kept in a cool, dark place at approximately 13°C. Don’t allow beer to be caught in bright light for long periods of time to prevent it from attaining a “skunky” taste.
