A beautiful and creamy goat’s milk cheese, the Malagos Petite La Regina is proudly Filipino, sourced and produced in Davao in the Malagos Farm itself.

TASTING NOTES FROM THE CURATOR

With a soft, spreadable texture similar to Camembert and Brie, the Malagos Petite La Regina is creamy and delicious.

A beautiful white rind surrounds it, bloomed and developed with the right temperature and humidity, giving the cheese a unique nutty flavor, all while keeping the pate creamy.

PREPARATION AND PAIRINGS

While you can have this Davao goat’s milk cheese on its own, it’s best enjoyed baked.

  • Cut the parchment paper off the top of your Petite La Regina.
  • Wrap the cheese in aluminum foil, and make shallow cuts along the top.
  • Place on a baking tray (just for added security; you wouldn’t want melted cheese all over your oven), and bake for 20 minutes at 250C.
  • Top with your choice of dried fruit and nuts, and drizzle with honey.
  • Serve with crackers. This one from Paul & Pippa would go perfect with it.
  • Pair with a glass of Champagne, like this delicate one from Duval-Leroy.

GOT MILK?

Goat’s milk has long been an alternative to cow’s milk, especially by people who have a low tolerance for regular dairy products. But aside from making it easier to consume, goat’s milk also has a ton of benefits.

Its protein composition allows it to form a soft curd, which makes it easier and more comfortable to digest. It also has a slightly lower lactose component. Goat’s milk is highly nutritious, with high amounts of potassium, iron, vitamin A, and calcium, which is essential to strengthening bones, teeth, and muscle. It’s also naturally low in cholesterol, and helps lower blood pressure.

Storage Instructions

Cheeses (except brined ones in jars) should be stored in the crisper or the butter drawer of a refrigerator, not on the shelves themselves. This is to help regulate their temperature and humidity levels—and prevents the formation of mold. Once opened, they should not be kept in their original packaging. Soft cheeses with delicate rinds need to breathe, so they are best placed in glass containers lined with paper towels to absorb extra moisture. Leave the lid open a tiny bit for air to circulate and don’t forget to write up a label with the date you first opened the package. Kindly pay attention to the best before date label when you receive your cheese. Consume prior to date indicated.
